Dear Husband

Dear Husband,

“Count on me to fight battles with you and not against you”

Earlier this week I made a post on Instagram and it truly struck something up inside of me. My husband and I just celebrated our 3 year anniversary on yesterday (May 23, 2018). One of the things that I always make sure that my husband knows is that I will never fight against him, but I will fight battles WITH him.

I think it’s truly important in a marriage to make sure that you and your spouse are working with each other and not against each other. The enemy hates to see (#1: a marriage that wants to glorify God) and (#2 a marriage where the couple works together to fight attacks). The enemy has a way of trying to find some type of way to interfere with your marriage and cause dysfunction. I mean, that’s what he does. He wants to cause confusion,  turmoil, and mess in your marriage. And if you let him, he will do just that. From experience, I know there are battles that my husband face every single day as a man, a husband, a father, a son etc…however, I never want him to work all day fighting battles and come home to fight another battle with me. I REFUSE.
As his wife, I will continue to cover him daily in prayer, which I believe is so important. A lot of times during our single season, we pray to receive a husband. However, once we get him, the prayers STOP. I think if anything, we should be praying even harder within our marriage. Some men are not as open or vulnerable to discuss every battle that they are facing. That’s where as a wife, you cover that man in prayer. You may cannot fight battles with him physically but you can fight spiritually. I want my husband to know that he has a helpmeet with me and not an opponent.
I’ve learned these last three years to not fight my husband. I’ve learned to never underestimate the power of prayer. I’ve learned that together and with God at the center, we can knock the battles out one by one!! Below you will find one of the prayers that I have for my husband on a daily.

Lord,
First, I just want to thank you for WHO you are. Thank you for being our strength during our weak moments. Thank you for being our light during our darkest times. Lord, you trusted me with your son even when I didn’t deserve it. God, I lift Him up to you right now and I pray that you will just anoint him with strength. I pray that you continue to teach him how to be a leader of our family. May your Holy Spirit guide him on a daily basis. Lord, give him the wisdom and strength to make it through the day. I pray that you continue to be the center and the core of our relationship. I pray that he continues to follow your way even when distractions try to interrupt his path. God, I pray that you give him an overwhelming peace in Jesus Name!!! Amen!
